Who We Are

Terran Denizen is a private membership platform operated by Terran Enterprise LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. “Terran Denizen” is the name we operate under. In this policy, “Terran Denizen,” “we,” and “us” mean Terran Enterprise LLC.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our member platform, our mailing list, and our treks and events. We are the party responsible for your information (the “controller,” where that term applies).

Information We Collect

Information you give us

• Application and account details: name, email address, phone number, school, degree program, graduation year, current or prior employer, career interests, and date of birth.
• Profile details: photo, short biography, resume, social profile links, and gender. You can update your profile at any time.
• Application materials: anything you submit so that we can assess your application, such as written responses or a referral.
• Trek and event details: registration choices, emergency contact, and, only where a host, venue, or government requires it for entry or security clearance, passport or identification details. We do not ask for medical information.
• Payments: payments are processed by our payment provider. We receive a record of the transaction and the last four digits of your card. We do not receive or store full card numbers.
• Communications: messages you send us and your email preferences.

Information collected automatically

When you use our website or platform, we collect basic technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit. See Cookies and Analytics.

Information from others

A current member may refer you, and we may confirm your enrollment or graduation with reference to your school email address or publicly available professional information.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

• review applications and confirm eligibility;
• create and maintain your account and member profile;
• run treks and events, including registration, logistics, safety, and access arrangements;
• process payments and refunds;
• send service messages about your account, bookings, and changes to our terms;
• send newsletters and program announcements, if you have subscribed;
• share your details with the partner organization behind a program or opportunity you sign up for;
• understand how our website and platform are used so that we can improve them;
• keep the platform secure and prevent misuse; and
• meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Membership decisions are made by people.

When We Share Information

We share personal information only in the situations below.

Partner organizations

When you register for an event, trek, or other program that a partner organization hosts or sponsors, or you apply for or express interest in an opportunity a partner has listed, we share your details with that partner. This typically includes your name, contact details, school and program, graduation year, professional background, and resume, along with anything you submit for that program or opportunity.

We do not otherwise make member profiles available to partner organizations. If we introduce broader partner access in the future, we will update this policy and notify members before it takes effect.

Partners handle the information they receive under their own privacy policies. We cannot recall information a partner has already received.

Trek and event hosts

Hosts, venues, and local operators receive what they need to admit you and run the program: typically your name, school, and professional background, and identification details where they are required for building or site access.

Other members

Members can see the profile information you choose to display in the member directory and the attendee list for programs you join.

Service providers

Companies that work for us, such as hosting, database, payment processing, email delivery, and analytics providers, handle information on our instructions and only to provide their services to us.

Legal and corporate reasons

We may disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the safety of members or the public, or to enforce our agreements. If our business is reorganized or acquired, member information may transfer to the successor, which must honor this policy or notify you of any change.

We do not sell personal information to data brokers or advertising networks, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

Your Choices

• Email updates. Newsletters and program announcements are sent only if you subscribe. You can unsubscribe using the link in any email or by emailing us. Service messages about your account and bookings are not marketing and will still be sent.
• Profile. Edit your profile details at any time.
• Photography. Tell us before or during a trek or event if you prefer not to appear in photographs we publish.
• Cookies. Manage cookies through your browser settings, as described in our Cookie Policy.

Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the platform to work, such as keeping you signed in and protecting your account.

We also use analytics, including third-party providers such as Google Analytics, to understand in aggregate how the website and platform are used. We do not allow advertising networks to place cookies on our site for behavioral advertising.

07 — Privacy Policy

How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and for as long afterward as we need it to operate the membership, maintain our records, resolve disputes, and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

When you close your account or ask us to delete your information, we delete your account and the details associated with it to the best of our ability. Some information may remain where we are required or permitted to keep it, such as payment records and signed agreements; in routine backups until they are overwritten; and with partner organizations or hosts that received it before your request.

Passport or identification details collected for a trek are kept only for as long as that trek requires.

Information that has been anonymized so that it no longer identifies you may be kept for reporting.

Your Rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to:

• give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• correct information that is inaccurate;
• delete your information;
• provide your information in a portable format; and
• stop or limit a particular use, including by withdrawing a consent you have given.

Email hello@terrandenizen.com from the address on your account. We respond within the time the law requires, generally 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep information that the law requires or permits us to keep. Deletion is carried out as described in How Long We Keep Information.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you are in one of these regions, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (your account, bookings, payments, and sharing your details with the partner behind a program or opportunity you sign up for); your consent (email updates); our legitimate interests in running a secure and well-managed membership (eligibility review, platform security, analytics, and service improvement); and legal obligation (tax and accounting records). You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

United States

Residents of some states, including California, have rights under state law to know, correct, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We honor those rights where they apply to us.

09 — Privacy Policy

International Transfers

We are based in the United States, and our service providers store information in the United States and other countries. If you are located elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in countries whose privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Where the law requires it, we use approved safeguards for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.

Treks take place abroad. When you join a trek, the details needed to run it are shared with hosts and operators in the destination country.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and limiting access to people who need it. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Age Requirement

Terran Denizen is for adults. You must be at least 18 to apply or to subscribe. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we delete it if we learn that we have.

We may update this policy as our programs change. If we make a material change, we will email members and post a notice on the website at least 14 days before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated.
